Organization: “Jasmine for Buncombe” is the 2020 re-election campaign for County Commissioner Jasmine Beach-Ferrara, running in District 2. Learn more at: http://www.jasmineforbuncombe.org/

Position Description: We are seeking an energetic, motivated part-time Field Organizer (starting at 5 hours/week) who is passionate about connecting with people and is ready to join a campaign team that believes field organizing comes first. This role involves voter contact through phone banking and door knocking, entering data, supporting volunteers, and staying nimble. The ideal candidate is a strategic and creative thinker, goal oriented, and excited about learning and growing. They are also a flexible team player who meets deadlines and is comfortable rolling up their sleeves for the wide range of tasks involved in a campaign. 

In this position you will: 
  • Phone bank and canvass to talk to voters.
  • Keep accurate data records of voter contact.
  • Register eligible people to vote.
  • Raise awareness and educate the public about key local issues, such as early childhood education, affordable housing, and responding to the opioid crisis.
  • Recruit and train volunteers to meet voter contact goals.
  • Attend campaign and community events on behalf of the campaign.

We’re looking for candidates who bring:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Motivation for building meaningful relationships with people from many walks of life.
  • Passion for local politics and public service.
  • Focused, goal-oriented ability to meet deadlines.
  • Comfort with or ready to learn campaign technology including Google Sheets and Votebuilder. 
  • Good sense of humor and ability to adapt to a fast paced, changing work environment.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends.
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable motor vehicle.
  • Previous relevant experiences working with people, meeting deadlines, and being part of a team (e.g. experiences on political campaigns, working in retail or restaurants, canvassing, direct services) are a plus. We’re excited to hear from candidates with a wide array of backgrounds.

Compensation: 
This position will earn $15 per hour and work 5 hours per week (20 hours per month).
