With homes, businesses, and the health of neighborhoods - like the Burton Street Community - on the line, it's critical that community voices and values are heard regarding the I-26 connector project. Come to a public forum tomorrow (Monday) at 4 PM at the Renaissance Hotel (31 Woodfin, downtown).
And check out this op-ed in the Asheville Citizen-Time to hear neighborhood leaders' concerns and some relevant history: "Let’s be clear — we need to fix the Bowen Bridge mess and malfunction junction (the I-240/I-26-I-40 interchange), but, once again, NCDOT has proposed a cure that might be as bad as the disease. Does Asheville want to become another 6-10 lane city, like Charlotte or Raleigh, or do we want to retain our mountain-town character?"
